Silly me, I thought it was iran and Russia that were funding "Kill the Jews" rallies. Leadership from progressive Americans certainly explains the same slogans, in perfect English, appearing worldwide. Who needs foreign influence when we're so ready to hang ourselves with our own rope!

True enough. Many of us refer to our county in Maryland as The People’s Republic of Montgomery County.

Oh god. I grew up there but so glad I got out!

Saw a headline yesterday about a Maryland High School that hosts a Pro-Palestine rally and I couldn’t bring myself to read the article, because I really didn’t want to find out that I probably know the high school.

Last year my mother, who works for MCPS got an email (she was visiting me and I saw the email as she opened it) and it told all employees that it was policy NOT to tell parents if their teenager starts using a new gender identity at school. And she was like, “I got to get outta here.” Thankfully, she is retiring and moving to Texas with me!

Yes! The whole trans thing is playing out in MOCO. Thing is, parents are pulling their kids out of public schools in record numbers.

I’ve heard. Thankfully my mom wasn’t a classroom teacher and so largely didn’t have to deal with that whole mess, but yes it sounds bad.

There used to be an “opt-out” choice for parents who didn’t want their kids sexually groomed. MCPS took that choice away.

I grew up with a lot of kids from Montgomery County at summer camp. All played soccer. It must be like where I grew up, Cherry Hill, NJ - a bastion of progressive loons.

Oh yes I was a soccer player too! We made fun of the NJ kids we played against, sorry!

But indeed, it is heavily progressive-liberal.

My poor grandfather, who is very conservative, was concerned about moving to Austin, Texas because he heard that Austin is a “blue island” in a sea of red. And I was like, “Papa! I grew up in MOCO! (as we called it then) Austin’s waaaayyy more balanced that MoCo! I’ll be fine.” Made me laugh.

He’s angry because people in America are demonstrating in support of Hamas, who just wantonly raped and massacred civilians, including women, children and infants because they are Jewish. There really is no other explanation for beheading a child or infant than for what they are.

Do you really think you understand the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?

All the comments on that video reveal how easy it is to manipulate people who know almost nothing about a situation with a bit of propaganda.

So LOL all you want. When you stop laughing maybe you’ll take some time to understand what’s happening and realize that Israel is not committing genocide. It is actually quite the reverse. Islamists have expelled Jews from almost the entire Middle East and North Africa, except for Israel. They simply will not tolerate Jewish dominion over one inch of the region. Palestinians, Arabs in a very small part of the ME, are pawns caught in the middle. The Arabs have never accepted any division of the region and have been waging a war since 1948 to eliminate the Jews, or at least make them subjects (dhimmis) under their rule. All the surrounding Arab countries intentionally keep the Palestinians stateless (as refugees) to continue the war against Israel.

The Jews have been defending themselves from a genocide since re-establishing a state in their ancestral homeland. Israel (Zion) was established to defend against a nearly successful genocide by the Nazis, which had origins going back long before the Nazis.

The massacre on Oct 7 was an unambiguous continuation of an ongoing Islamist genocide (a Jihad) of not only Jews, but also the Judeo-Christian West (remember 9/11?).

Perhaps one day you will be able to wrap your head around why Jews in America are so touchy about Americans who demonstrate in support of the butchers who are waging a genocide against them.

Ironic, isn’t it? But not something to laugh about.

There's no question that Jews are being attacked from the right and the left now. Unfortunately, there is little Jews can do stop either source of hatred, given our Constitution. If American Nazis can march through any town they want, just like guys with tiki torches in Charlottesville, and students at Harvard or Columbia have every right to attack Israel verbally or in demonstrations, the only recourse for Jews is to do their best to out-argue antisemites on either side, since there is no way at all to suppress them. I'm not hopeful that out-arguing haters of Jews will be possible. I think that American Jews will now simply have to live with unprecedented levels of hostility for the duration. Of course they will "fight back," as The Free Press constantly does. But we've simply entered a new negative phase of American history where Jews are concerned. When Trump broke all norms with his open race-baiting and congratulations to "fine people" shouting "Jews will not replace us," he opened floodgates of ancient Klan-style hatred on the right, just like ancient racism against blacks. There's now no way to censor such hatred away, since it is part and parcel of MAGA. And no matter how much rich Jewish donors may fume, they are powerless to change fifty years of political correctness focused on "oppressors" and "oppressed" in all areas, including Israel. The faculty at Harvard is much more powerful than its donors, and they aren't budging. After decades of hugely successful assimilation leading to most Americans not knowing or caring who is Jewish and who is not--a healthy state of affairs--we're now back to a world before assimilation in which thugs on the right and intellectuals on the left are both focused on identifying and harassing Jews with Constitutionally protected speech and marches. Hard to believe the halcyon days of assimilation are likely to return soon, if ever.

Nonsense. The incontrovertible proof that CNN, MSNBC, and I have this right, and you have it dead wrong is the indisputable fact that the most prominent Jewish member of Trump's government when he made this grotesque statement, Gary Cohn of Goldman Sachs, immediately felt compelled as a Jew to totally resign and distance himself from Trump. How do you explain Cohn's "mistake" from your erroneous point of view? One of the sleazy things about Trump is the way he tries to have it both ways. On the one hand, he totally pandered to Jews with both the Jerusalem move and the Abraham Accords. On the other he inspired antisemitic haters with his weasel words (remember how he pretended never to have heard of David Duke when journalists tried to corner him about Duke; plausible deniability is Trump's middle name) and constant race-baiting. Guess you missed the memo about how the American Nazi mass murderer of Jews in Pittsburgh was a huge Trump fan. There was visual proof on your hated CNN and MSNBC about that too. Again, I believed my eyes and ears. It's understandably given how Trump was Shel Adelson's dream of an American presidential supporter of Likud Israel that you would want to see him in the best light possible, though if you admire him so much, why didn't you vote for him? Nonetheless, Trump is the most fascistic political figure in American history, one who calls his enemies "vermin" to be eliminated, exactly as Hitler described Jews, and the greatest danger to American democracy in our history, openly discussing how he wants to ditch our Constitution and weaponize the Justice Department to go after his enemies, exactly as Hitler did in Germany. I can understand how uneducated people who've been screwed over economically by globalization now see Trump as their vehicle for revenge, exactly as working-class Germans had been screwed over themselves and wanted vengeance against "elites" through Hitler. But I can't understand at all how any educated person who loves our Constitutional democracy could view Trump with anything but fear and loathing. If he is elected, this country is finished.

I hesitate to comment here because I don't want to engage in argument. Please take this from a political independent who is not a trump fan, but who think his comments were indeed misrepresented regarding the Charlottesville protest.

The protests in C'ville were over the civil war monuments being torn down in that community. People in that part of the country are proud of their civil war history, and didn't want mob rule to determine which statues or monuments should be removed with no vote from the community. (I personally found that behavior reminiscent of Mao's China and the red guards tearing down the "four olds", and it made me very uncomfortable, although I don't live in Virginia anymore.) In addition to those legitimate protesters, there were the crazies chanting the anti-Semitic phrases you referenced. There were also antifa rioters who came to cause trouble and stir people up into violent clashes.

Back to trump's "fine people" statement. It was edited. As soon as he said there were fine people on both sides, he continued and said "And I'm not talking about the neo nazis or the white nationalists, because they should condemned totally." You can find those unedited clips online - I easily found a few of them searching on Rumble.com. (Also notable is that trump has a Jewish son in law and Jewish grandchildren who he adores, which doesn't add up with supporting anti-Semites.)

My perspective is this: If I can believe that the majority of the George Floyd protesters were "fine people" out to support black Americans who were hurting at the time, and there were also antifa troublemakers out there burning down buildings and being very violent, then why can't I believe that the majority of the people in Charlottesville were there exercising their 1st amendment rights and standing against tearing down their community's monuments to history, and there were also anti-semites and antifa present who said horrible things and instigated violence? I understand that both can be true, because I understand the concept of nuance.

This "fine people" phrase was been unfairly edited and repeated ad nauseam by the press, and it showed me personally that the press were lying to me about this particular event. As the months went on, I've found more and more instances where the press misled me, and yes, lied to me. I don't want the press to tell me what to think. I want them to tell me what happened and let me draw my own conclusions. That's why I've shifted to independent media sources and tuned out the mainstream press.

You should read more science fiction. The problem is that, if we go to Mars, we'll just take all this with us.

Look at what the leftists fleeing California have done to the surrounding states and are doing in Texas. Is anyone reading this old enough to recall a Consevative California?

Yeah, the first thing I learned to tell people when I moved to Texas was “I’m not from California!!”

Yes, I remember

Better idea. Let them set up their utopia there. Without a choice.

For those of us who are religious, we have the hope of crying “How much longer till Jesus comes back!”

And I say that somewhat jokingly here, but in all sincerity there is a lot of hope in the idea that Jesus will return one day and make everything right.

It’s a power play. Marxists want to destroy civiliation, de-stabilize it so that they can grab power. (Islams wants power so it can turn the whole world to Islam.) But for the Marxists especially, for all their “talk” about being for the oppressed, for being the voice of those without power, that tune will change as soon as they get power. So don’t believe them one bit.

Because competition between countries almost always includes attempts to weaken those countries from within by convincing those who live there that their systrm sucks. (See e.g. Radio Free Europe.)

We just happen to live in a country that is so open that we allow the idea that our system is awful to be publicly debated; this is a feature, not a flaw. The larger problem is that we are increasingly allowing our children to be indoctrinated with these ideas without first having the knowledge or life experience to properly consider them. That's a real problem.

Because they are angry.

Some of them are driven by failing religion (Islam) or failed ideology (Marxism) but many are just nihilists.

Nihilists find life meaningless. They have no purpose. Whatever they thought would give their life meaning has failed them. They're angry and want to tear down "the system." And the Internet has made it is easy to discover the lies and manipulations of the "elites" who control the system (see The Revolt of the Public: https://a.co/d/6QfXoFW).

Some find purpose in saving the world from climate change, but it turns out that's pretty frustrating work, and it never ends.

Others find purpose in social justice, which has morphed into racism, decolonization and "equality of outcomes." Also frustrating and unending.

In all cases, they are angry and want to tear down the system, including capitalism, liberal democracy and the institutions that make up Western Civilization. They don't need specific goals or ideas of what they want to create, except perhaps an unobtainable utopia where everyone is happy and equal and no one exploits anything, including nature.

They love demonstrations where they can smash stuff, light stuff on fire and clash with the police. ANTIFA has good ones. The Free Palestine ones are trending right now.

Thank you for that. It’s an explanation I hadn’t heard, and it makes sense.

Personally, I think Oct 7 is the worst kind of racism.

Note that hyperbolic accusations of racism are a subversive socialist tactic, because they think Westerners are vulnerable to accusations of racism.

"Racism is more dangerous than a virus."

"The folks who make allegations against us are steeped in the worst kind of racism."

Yes, I was going to comment on that too.

Anything with the word "racism" in it sells. As a schoolteacher, I used to be very earnest about teaching my kids about Brown v. Board of Education, Emmett Till (before most people), and the effects of Jim Crow. Nowadays I think that LBJ's Great Society, which broke up Black families and, fifty years later, has left multi-generational welfare families feckless and uneducable, has been far worse.

We reap the Great Society in our daily trips in New York City's subways, on our streets, and in our schools. DEI has infected our thinking to such an extent that we have become blithering idiots. And our cities, symbols of both striving and of achievement, are derelict.

We've treated Palestinians like our inner-city Blacks. As a result, they too have abandoned their roles as responsible citizens and subsist on largesse.

I'm perfectly fine rounding up these folks, stripping them of US citizenship and sending them on a one way flight to their beloved land of milk and honey. We are in an existential war. Whether you wish to believe it or not makes no difference. If we don't start taking the gloves off and defending in quite robust ways our western liberal democracy and capitalism as the proven economic path to prosperity and individual freedom, we will lose.

Does not surprise me. The professional intersectionality of various umbrella activist organization is abundantly clear.

The mantra should always be -- follow the money through various trails and meanderings.

And why stop with this pair? I suspect a multitude of far-left organizations will suddenly decide they are going all in for Hamas.

For example:

Greta Thunberg and her climate change operation has done a hard shift towards a pro-Hamas position. She started chanting 'no climate justice on occupied land' a chant which makes no sense. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2023/11/13/greta-thunberg-pro-palestine-mic-climate-march-amsterdam/ or https://archive.is/y9qy5

The Ecologist which was supposed to be about environmental issues now suddenly has decided to go all in for Hamas. This (not behind a paywall) gives the justification and explains what they are goign to be doing going forward. Among other thing I learned is that they are taking over the late Extinction Rebellion apparatus. I had no idea that XR had itself become extinct. https://theecologist.org/2023/nov/07/just-stop-genocide

Personally I didn't realise that Hamas were so sustainably minded.

The answer will be in the web of cross funding. The phrase -- he who pays the piper call the tune springs to mind.

Greta is just another manifestation on Marxism on the left. It's never about any specific cause. They will never be satisfied if any problem is finally solved, because the entire movement is about the movement. The movement must never stop and must continue and continue and continue. One revolution after another. Greta is probably too stupid to truly realize this but this was in the writing of Krupskaya, Lenin's wife.

One can take some comfort in knowing that what has been hidden is now revealed. Rather like my apartment on the Lower East Side many years ago: My young wife would wait in the hall while I flipped on the lights in the kitchen. The cockroaches would freeze on the floor for a few seconds and then scurry back in their hidey-holes. And then my girl would come in. In this case, the vermin think the kitchen is now theirs. Big surprise awaits them.

1804 books, what a laugh. Hati has been a beacon of freedom and prosperity since the revolution? Correct? Funny how myopic and dishonest Marxist supports can be. Cuba only survived propped by finding from USSR and I don't recall reading of people leaving Florida to get to Cuba for freedom and prosperity. Venezuela only worked for a while as the exploited then misappropriated oil money. Now people starve and flee. How many millions died under Mao in China, under Pol Pot in the killing fields. Under Lenin. Why is it that refugees all flee to the western democracies with judeochristisn values. Capitalist based economics brought prosperity to the world. China succeeds in part by selling exploited labor to the West and stealing intellectual property. Honestly. This guy should be stripped of citizenship if he lives in Shanghai and denied a passport.

I figured someone had to be paying protestors just like BLM did in 2020. Otherwise people would be looking for or at work. You have a right to free speech but only as an American with loyalty to our constitution.

The trifecta of Iran-Russia-CCP is alarming. I have colleagues who have sent out institutional promotions to participate in 'Shut it Down for Palestine' as part of the Climate Justice movement. I wrote them bloody hell and got nothing in response. I'd love to know who else is behind that agenda. I see it creeping out into what I thought were my peaceful networks: environmentalism, art, poetry. It's so disturbing.
