Excellent piece. Obama sowed the seeds. The feel good peaceniks who love Barry O. will never admit he is ether a fool or hates the West. Despite Obama's horrific decisions Trump left Biden with as stable an international order as we've seen in my lifetime. He left Biden with a Middle East in better shape than we've ever seen. If Biden did NOTHING it would have been okay. The Obamanistas, Bidenistas, Clintonistas are all to blame. I'm no Trumper, but MAGA works. Our allies were safe and our enemies were on the run.

The dominant perception of Obama continues to be one of a well-intentioned, albeit naive, statesman who had the best of intentions, some of which didn't pan out. I look forward to the day when Obama will be recognized for the subversive demonic creature that he really is.

Once you begin to see that everything Obama did has served to weaken and destabilize America, both internally as well as internationally, everything falls into place. You have to admire his brazen courage to do things he did, from inviting the Muslim Brotherhood to his Cairo speech all the way to throwing billions at the Ayatollahs as part of a "reset of our ME policy"—and he got away with it all. Mr. Smooth, the debonair well-spoken black man, the Iago who charmed the pants off the liberal intelligentsia, and nearly brought down Western civilization single-handedly.

Obama famously declared that the evening call to prayer was one of the most beautiful sounds on Earth.

Why? His immediate outreach and coddling of Iran upon assuming office is of a piece.

Expand full comment

Why? He is Muslim. Don’t know if his Nigerian father was Muslim but we know his Indonesian stepfather was Muslim. And in his autobiography, he said he rejected his grandmother’s culture for his fathers. Did he not bow to Muslim dignatories?

Expand full comment

Too far. Let’s stick with policy and facts. This type of “he is a Muslim” is the reason our congress does not work together on important issues. The Obamas are Christians. President Obama followed a foreign policy with which you disagree. Our world is in trouble and can only be steered to preservation of our country by civilized discussion of policy.

No doubt that’s why Obama attended Very Christian Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago for 2 decades. Gotta watch out for them Church of Christ folks—downright radical!

Obama attended both Catholic and Muslim schools in Indonesia before living with his grandparents in Hawaii, where he attended a secular, private high school.

Sounds like maybe his parents wanted the best schools available wherever he lived—downright subversive concept!

My father was a Mormon, and I’m a Presbyterian; my brother and his Jewish wife are unchurched. The religion of the father means diddly-squat.

Expand full comment

And yet he chose to follow another culture. What’s your point? Don’t think denominational choice is the same. I will give you the point that he may not practice any faith.

Expand full comment

My apologies, I thought my point was clear. Obama’s father religion is not predictive of Obama’s religion or faith tradition.

But at no point in his life did Obama, or anyone who knew him growing up, in college, in his adult life see any evidence or indication he was or is his father’s religion (Muslim)—which is what you wrote. His was a cross-cultural upbringing—Indonesia and America; Catholic school, Muslim school, secular school, first Black president of The Harvard Law Review, etc

To be fair, the sounds of the muezzin in Jerusalem can be beautiful.

On the other hand, I know of someone who, startled by the nocturnal noise, fell out of his bunk bed at one of the church hospices and broke his arm.

And on rare occasions when the wind carries the sound in Brooklyn, I'm not a fan. I prefer church bells.

I think we in the West do not grasp what the call to prayer is saying, which in effect is: “Allah is great” the same thing we hear Muslim militants chant all over the world as they fire off their weapons and slaughter the innocent. Especially after Oct. 7, I would conclude that this so called beautiful sound is the call of evil.

Expand full comment

The “call to prayer” unnerves me. For our daughter’s college graduation gift we took her to Istanbul. We got in late, had a late dinner and exhaustingly fell into bed only to shoot out of bed at dawn by the ghastly shrieking coming from the Blue Mosque minaret. My husband, who had traveled extensively throughout the Middle East still laughs at our freight. And absolutely no comparison to church bells….spent over a year in Italy and miss the sound of hourly church bells

This administration’s inability to identify immorality and evil, and to promote policies and actions to deter its perpetrators has been a heartbreaking shortcoming that has contributed to much devastation. This article has a link to a Politico story outlining how the Obama administration empowered Iran’s terror campaign and nuclear program. Everyone owes it to themselves to read it and your jaw will drop at the foolishness and recklessness of that administration. I really never knew how much danger and violence the Obama foreign policy enabled, not only against our allies, but against our soldiers and even the civilian US mainland.

Some quotes:

On facilitating Assad’s chemical warfare attacks on his own citizens:

“Project Cassandra members say administration officials also blocked or undermined their efforts to go after other top Hezbollah operatives including one nicknamed the ‘Ghost’. One of the most mysterious alleged associates of Safieddine, secretly indicted by the U.S., linked to multi-ton U.S.-bound cocaine loads and weapons shipments to Middle East, allowing them to remain active despite being under sealed U.S. indictment for years. People familiar with his case say the Ghost has been one of the world’s biggest cocaine traffickers, including to the U.S., as well as a major supplier of conventional and chemical weapons for use by Syrian President Bashar Assad against his people.”

On trafficking drugs to America:

“The derailment of Project Cassandra also has undermined U.S. efforts to determine how much cocaine from the various Hezbollah-affiliated networks is coming into the United States, especially from Venezuela, where dozens of top civilian and military officials have been under investigation for more than a decade. Recently, the Trump administration designated the country’s vice president, a close ally of Hezbollah and of Lebanese-Syrian descent, as a global narcotics kingpin.”

On facilitating the murder of American soldiers:

“Meanwhile, in Iraq, the U.S. military was probing the role of Iran in outfitting Shiite militias with high-tech improvised explosive devices known as Explosively Formed Penetrators, or EFPs, that had already killed hundreds of U.S. soldiers.”

I just happened to begin reading The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larsen's book about Churchill during WWII, this weekend and one of my first thoughts after hearing the news about Iran's attack and the American president's warning to Israel that our government wouldn't support a retaliation, is thank effing hell we had a few leaders with enough spine, moral clarity, and devotion to the spirit of Western Civilization--no matter how imperfect--to keep going after Germany felled France or my recent trip to Paris would have required a German dictionary. I'm finding more and more parallels between the cowards and spinmakers of WWII and the "thought leaders" and mealy-mouthed politicians du jour. You can't appease evil. (A word which, by the way, I can find few true real life applications for; it is not used lightly here.) You can only destroy it or chase it relentlessly--keep on the run, without rest or safe harbor, so it has no time to organize. No matter how "complicated" the story behind Israel and the Middle East is, a simple and powerfully clarifying fact remains: Khamenei's regime, with Russia's help, would wipe the US and its "infidel" friends off the map if given an clean shot. It's been practicing for years already, almost entirely unchecked. If that fact doesn't sober you up enough to know whose side you're on, it's likely nothing will. To use Sam Harris' words, there is a "bright line between good and evil" in this moment in history and history rarely offers us such a gift.

Great article! Another important anti-Israel action of Joe Biden was to kill the East Med gas pipeline in 2022 which would have brought Israel natural gas into Europe via Greece and Cypress. It was meant to counteract Russian supply of Natural gas to Europe, and make Europe less susceptible to Russian Energy blackmail. It was a pet project of the Trump administration. Biden killed it in 2022, Russia knew it could invade Ukraine with impunity because its energy blackmail hand was strengthened. An impressive blunder by the Biden administration and never mentioned by the mainstream media.
