A really strange juxtaposition to have an anguished college professor explain why he has to resign due to rampant anti-Semitism and ignorance in one of America’s top universities, followed by a tongue in cheek article by a guy trying to be clever and keep his liberal street cred by mocking conservatives, even though he knows his side is rotten and utterly lost.

My sympathy for university professors is zero. You allowed this extreme leftist shit to metastasize and suddenly you’re mad because it attacked you?? You voted for this, asshole.

Given that Karchmer’s field is computer science and he’s been a lecturer at MIT for only four years I don’t think it’s fair to say that he’s been complicit in fostering the rot in higher education. Indeed, he took his stand based on principles, not because some Twitter mob turned on him (like that other professor who was featured in TFP a few months ago).

I think this guy deserves not only sympathy, but also kudos. By painting all university professors with the same broad brush, you are guilty of the same condescending “othering” committed by progressive ideologues.

About 99% of university professors are hardcore Democrats. Shitting on them as a group is not the same as calling all white people evil.

The only reason you would compare these two things is if you are trying to help evil people.

But the article wasn’t about the 99%; it was about one courageous prof who wouldn’t “go along to get along,” and your only response was to say that you had zero sympathy. It seems to me that we have to celebrate the ones who take a stand, not piss on them just because most of their fellows don’t have a backbone or common sense.

He's had the vote how long?

Why this screed even exists: the NYT came for the Jews. If it hadn't been for that specific bigotry, Bari and Co. would still be writing rubbish for them and thinking Dimocrats were the bestists. The same for the vast bulk of their co-religionists in America.

Xtianity, Islam, Communism, Critical Theory: all ideologies lethal to Jews; all either straight up invented by Jews or brought to the market place with a lot of Jewish heavy lifting. If it is daft enough and lethal to Jews enough, they'll swallow it by the bucket load - until the killing starts and the cognitive dissonance is overwhelmed.

Don't get me wrong, the Stupid gene is just as strong in everyone else or we wouldn't be where we are; but wait three generations for today's newly wised-up to die and they'll be back at the forefront of something equally as stupid and as equally lethal to Jews. Ha Shem knows why, and They ain't telling.

Really? By the same token, every never-Trumper conservative deserves no sympathy because they voted for the Republican Party that metastasized into MAGA who beats cops with the flag poles. It is a tragedy of our society that edges on both sides of political spectrum drifted into hate and violence. I can have a substantive conversation with both true conservatives and true liberals, but substantive conversations are no longer possible with either MAGA or progressives, both of the extremes are only capable of screaming.

If MAGA were non-ideological, they would have not devote themselves unconditionally to the elitist New York billionaire who poops into a golden toilet, tells the establishment donors that the purpose of his tax cuts act was to make them richer, runs Trump University for his devotees who then discover it was a scam, and pals around with the North Korean, Saudi and Qatari rules and pays taxes to the Chinese government while Saudi government pays millions for the best suites in his DC hotel - speaking of national sovereignty. I understand their dissatisfaction, I am dissatisfied with the same things, too. I just don't understand why they stand behind their false prophet who takes their small donations out of their Social Security payments so he can live life of luxury. This is what I define as a MAGA cult, and they are not any better than BLM followers who donated money so the BLM founders can buy mansions in Beverly Hills.

As for the raising voices or rioting, are you OK with the tens of millions of US citizens who rioted against the establishment in 2020?

I appreciate your explanation, but I already understand why Trump has a cult-like following. First of all, I would like to point out that Steve Bannon, one of the leaders of MAGA movement and Trump's close advisor, openly calls himself Leninist. As someone who is quite familiar with works of both Marx and Lenin, I can assure you that Lenin was way more radical than Marx.

At least we agree that politically motivated rioting like on January 6 or in summer of 2020 is not OK. I personally believe that any rioting destroys the very foundation of civilization and deprives society of the opportunity to self-correct peacefully. This is why I am a committed centrist, and my biggest disappointment with both parties lies in their inability to resolve the problems, instead, they use problems as a stick to poke the eye of the opponent, whether it is immigration, national debt or racial tensions.

He acknowledges this in his article:

“Students at MIT and other elite colleges have been radicalized by faculty members who have encouraged and even led the student body to become social justice warriors, supporting their highly progressive political beliefs. America’s brightest minds are being manipulated by a force they don’t even understand to adopt a narrow view of the world. That this is happening at a place where they’re meant to be exploring a wealth of ideas and have their thinking challenged shocks me.”

Silence on the part of the British political elite in the face of totalitarian CCP repression and torture is the natural response of the fascist corporatism arresting and jailing British citizens for thought and speech crimes. The communist CCP and central banking fascist finance are two sides of the same bad penny counterfeit ideology that destroyed the promise of the 20th Century and sent millions to the killing fields. They are an international conspiracy of criminal whores who fully intend to reduce the free peoples of the world to serfdom. They literally destroy everything they touch and the narcissism and hubris of their criminality is driving the rampant paranoia now building the inhuman unholy world surveillance apparatus they hope will give them totalitarian control over every living thing. Bari, this democracy story in Hong Kong is not quite as one-sided as portrayed. Nor is are the Uighurs. Let's start with the Uighurs, a muslim ethnic group sharing a border with Afghanistan and Pakistan --- Pakistan currently driving millions of Afghans who are causing militant trouble out. The US has a history of weaponizing Al Qaeda and ISIS against Syria, and the USSR. Why would people think the same is not the story with the Uighurs? Most of the Uighurs are just fine. In fact, Israel could learn from China how to deal with Hamas and Hezbollah. China sees what is going on with muslims, and is making sure they don't have a problem.

There were long-time Hong Kongers, (most of them) who weren't building barricades, meeting with the American ambassador after Joe Biden declared he would "stop China" by any means necessary, and fighting with police. Many Hong Kongers went out and did what they could to clear the barricades. Yes, China cracks down heavy, it's what they do when pressed. But let's get real. If students at the Ivies met with the Chinese ambassador for advice, and built serious barricades obstructing Congress and Manhattan and battling with police, we wouldn't exactly be sitting back just letting it happen forever. China responded to the Hong Kong events with pretty accurate understanding of what it was---an op by the Biden administration in hopes of spreading riots and dissent in China proper.

Do I think China could handle it better? Sure. But this is a nation that has living memory of the dark years of the Cultural Revolution, when university professors were tortured to death by students, a principal was literally roasted alive and then slices eaten by student protesters. Student gangs seized military weapons and fought battles with each other. China's history with student uprisings is very different from ours. Read The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu. In the early chapters he takes you through a scene where a professor of physics of dies rather than renounce Albert Einstein's bourgeois anti-revolutionary physics. China's leadership will do anything it thinks it must do to stop a repeat of the Cultural Revolution.

So Bari, please educate yourself more before jumping on the "But it's obvious!" train.

Oh.....and if you've not noticed yet, Trump hasn't taken a single shot at Vivek in any way which is really odd because ya know....its Trump. I believe if Trump gets hung up and has to pull out of the race, the throws his support to Vivek.

We don't send kids to college to get indoctrinated but rather educated to become great citizens. The great scam of our lifetime is college. The kids who attend elite institutions have the connections to get a job and will make money the old-fashioned way: connections. But those in the middle or lower classes get burdened with debt and acquire no skills for jobs.

The government has gone after for-profit schools that do this, but the same rigor must happen against those in the nonprofit world. Claudine Gay was getting paid nearly 1 million dollars to teach nonsense. The poor kids, many minorities, "learn" from the progressive professors but can't do anything with worthless degrees. The Democratic plan of paying for loans that subsidize the radical administration and professors, then writing off the debts through loan forgiveness, takes the scam off the table. The GOP should put it on the table. Our education system is there to produce good citizens and skill sets to improve our communities and economy.

This current system of student loans is the lifeblood of the idiot professors and the life failures they produce. It's an issue of our times, but sadly, no GOP candidate can push it.

She's terrible on the gender cult issue for kids/young people. I think she would side with Pharma & Corporatism over American health and well being but call it parental rights to drug and mutilate their children, etc. under highly profitable Gender Quakery.

A nation cannot be bankrupted if it is in debt to its own central bank. Money is created in the modern world by creation of debt. The national debt = the base equity (our wealth) that the private sector uses. If you pay it off, you destroy that basis for the wealth of the private sector.

This is part of the paradox of thrift in the modern world. It is sometimes called debt deflation. You pay down the debt, but in the process, dollars are worth more, so the net percentage of debt relative to your ability to pay goes up. This is what "austerity" causes, over and over.

Congress knows this. They lie about it. Trump was the first president in history to speak honestly about the national debt. Do you remember?

Voters need to be able to make a decision between two different things. If voters pick communism then I’m fine with it. What I’m not fine with is people being gradually dragged into communism via trickery.

Or maybe all of the restrictions that have been placed on abortion since the supreme court overturned Roe v. Wade? The list goes on, but I have to get back to work...

I think a reasonable person would say that pre-covid spending levels paired with a less restrictive economy would be sufficient. GDP has grown by 92% since 2008 and the innovations that we have seen since that time would be more than enough to offset the increased debt had COVID not happened.

Expand full comment

My primary objection to Haley is her penchant for supporting, continual, offshore warfare. But Ava, perhaps you may support neocon aims under premise this helps preserve supremacy of US dollar as worlds reserve currency? I think the Ukraine adventure is having opposite effect, spurring forward more energy towards an alternative BRIC currency to compete w/ US dollars. Agree we are spending more at too much. The Federal government has expanded every single year regardless of R or D in White House for the last 6 decades. The last time the Federal debt decreased was from 1955 to 1957. But from 1958 on, it’s only gone up, and up, and up.

Expand full comment

They have been talking about an alternative currency for forever. The truth is that 60% of global trade happens in US dollars and it actually benefits US energy production for OPEC (not BRIC) to trade in alternative currencies. This is because it is a less efficient way of trading (ask Russia about the discounts they have been taking to sell energy to India and China). This in turn drives up the cost of energy. Energy produced in the US via shale is more expensive to produce. The increase in energy costs means they can be more profitable in pumping additional capacity. I'll also point out that no one could agree on a currency, so they agreed to instead just trade more in local currencies, which again is less efficient.

Why do you think the debt has to decrease? Debt is a tool. It's like a hammer. You can use it to build things, or you can use it to destroy things. Modest growth of debt with innovation, and GDP growth produces enough economic activity to offset the debt. The capital just has to be allocated properly, by investing in the United States and our interest around the world. Governments are meant to last in perpetuity.

Expand full comment

Thanks Ava, you raise good points. My work is international and you are correct that most global trade I see is in US dollars. For our China operations, we trade domestically there in CNY and then do our best to fund local operations w/ those funds (the repatriation tax of converting CNY profits to US Dollars is like 25%)

There are lots of good reasons to reduce the Federal debt:

1. Net interest costs on the debt are now around $1.4T. These high interest costs can/will crowd out public investments that can fuel growth (education, infrastructure, R&D)

2. Reduced flexibility to respond to crisis. Too much debt makes it more difficult to work our way out of the next recession

3. Debt could threaten viability of Medicare/Soc.Sec, which if not shored up could go bankrupt. That would lead to a lot of misery among our poorest citizens, and social unrest.

4. Too much debt can hamper new businesses development (due to high inflation and erosion of US Dollar)

Our country can of course continue to print $$ but it will bite us at some point. There’s a trail of sad situations around the globe (in past) and in present where debt, and servicing that debt, became too much.

The comments from Corum and Harbaugh reflect the unprecedented three-game suspension handed down by the Big Ten commissioner, who patiently waited to issue the suspension until the team was on a flight to their first major challenge of the season (at Penn State). They had to play that game as well as the season-defining game against Ohio State without their coach.

That's never happened before in the sport. Conferences don't do that. And there still is no reason to believe Harbaugh knew about what that staffer was doing. And no reason to cheat, since the one rule about sign-stealing is that you can't tape opposing coaches on your own. But the signals are viewable on the all-22 film that's distributed by the league.

So that's why they felt that way. I think everyone was aware something had to be done. Lots of teams are punished for various rule violations - usually a recruiting limitation or even a scholarship limit reduction in the worst cases. But there's never been something like this, before an investigation even took place.

It's not cheating to decipher signals. Every team knows that other teams work on this all the time and they need to be changed up before each game. Michigan couldn't have gained an advantage from the former staffer's behavior, as strange as it was. Yet the media was relentless with the narrative even last week, which is why they said what they said after the game.

I don't know, Oliver. I think TFP is great, except sports coverage. Every time I've read a sports story here, it's been like you'd expect from people who really don't like sports.

Jim, it’s a bad position to be in when you have to try and explain how what your team did “isn’t actually cheating.”

Oh, it was. I'm not defending it. The punishment and the media reaction were the issue. This was the conference acting rather than the NCAA and the penalty was out of proportion and strange, given the careful timing to avoid any chance of an appeal. That's why the players said what they said after the game. There was a definite "us against everybody" feeling from the program for the last few weeks of the season. They used that. Maybe they won in part because of that.

Her town hall meeting lasted one hour. Do you really want me to even attempt to summarize it here?

I think you and others have labeled her. I did early on as well. I read her book form a few years ago and was not impressed. I am now.

You claim to have an open mind? Check back in with her........

I actually did like her like 8 years ago. Since then I have seen her increasingly respond in ways that I feel are simply a continuation of what we currently have. I don't want a candidate who seems to think that Government is the answer to everything, as I believe that gov should be that last option, not first. Especially at the federal level.

I may check out her town hall. But in general, I don't trust those things. They are propaganda, regardless of the candidate. What someone says doesn't necessarily mean much, since people can and will lie. Which is why I also don't love Vivik...he says stuff I like, and the first few times I heard him, I liked him. But I get a used car salesman vibe the more I hear.

Nikki seems like someone who will be beholden to the "Interests". The big money donors and people in power. Ron and Trump are the only ones I feel would actually fight back. And I honestly don't really want Trump either.

But, I am a cynic. I suspect that the majority of our politicians are garbage.

President Trump didn't know what the fuck he was doing. Still your best since Hoover. Funny that. You've had a couple or three successful State Govenors that no-one supposedly in their right minds would put on a ballot either.

“those who lack the most basic critical thinking skills or emotional intelligence -- Absolutely describes the woke liberals who support genocide, govt control of thoughts, actions, and life decisions. These people are truly dangerous as they simply run with emotions and the desire to be standing with those who support anything, no matter how stupid. Be it Hamas, BLM, DEI, COVID restrictions, mutilation of kids, men can have babies, America is evil, limiting who can run for office or what can be said by people. They are the true threat to mankind and any hope for a future for all. MIT, Penn, Harvard, and other bastions of idiocy are just proof stupid people can advance if they bow to the radical woke fools who have no ability to be rational and only know emotions as facts.

China owns the ability to subvert and knows how to push control over politicians and people who have no ability to see evil and understand the far reaching impacts of the danger China poses. Idiots cry for Hamas, but ignore Christians massacred in Nigeria, the continuing ethnic cleansing in Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Ukraine, Myanmar, and so many other places. Again we come back the most basic critical thinking skills or emotional intelligence which the woke liberals completely lack and shows what cowards and fools they are.

Democrats who want Trump off the ballots would also gladly name Obama as King. How many times can these fools and idiots claim Democracy is at stake. How about when LBJ created a war that killed 68 thousand soldiers and countless Asians so he could get re-elected? How about when Joe decides he doesn't need to follow the Constitution and by passes Congress to spend money we don't have? How about going back to Roosevelt who secretly supported Hitler at first but was forced to change positions? How about a Congress Woman who might have married her brother to get into the US? How about so many other examples. Save me your BS save Democracy, especially when you really want to destroy it. That's to you Ms Obama who is a true US hater and useless person who is a grifter of the first order.

As for Evan Gardner , get a life and really study the issue. OSU hired Mich defensive coaches for two years to beat Mich and then fired them when Mich changed defense coaches. Other teams have histories of doing similar things or even football players not attending classes. You sound like an OSU fan who didn't have Grandma hug him this morning. Fool, you do realize the Michigan Team won and has the least pro and star ratings for players ever to win a championship? So you want to knock what a bunch of 18-22 year old men did as a team and played for each other? Get a life dude or maybe a job!

That wasn't how I remember it. I honestly recall when Obama was campaigning, they coined him the Messiah. I'm not joking.

A King is not nearly omnipotent enough.

King of Kings maybe?

Shahanshah, of which "King of Kings" is the translation, more like. Eastern despots who fold when rag-tag Muslims get violent or an Athenian phalanx steps out. Maybe good at oppressing their own; but fold like cardboard boxes when anything remotely resembling organised opposition shows up. Not Messiahs; not even very naughty boys. Just shit on your shoe.

Then I guess you need to read up on the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Gave LBJ reasons to expand Vietnam troop presence. Kennedy was supposedly looking to get out. August 4, 1964 US falsely claimed a second incident which didn’t happen.

So make up your own history as it probably makes you feel wiser.

Easy big fella. I've read much on the VN war.

There is an enormous difference between creating and continuing/advancing.

My point is LBJ did not create the war. It started right after WWII ended when Truman was in office and France was in a weak position to continue occupancy.

What’s the ethnic cleansing happening in Ukraine that’s not being reported?

And how did FDR support Hitler?

Expand full comment

FDR was an elitist who was also an Anti-Semite He was against immigration of Jews into the U. S. Maybe he didn’t want it overrun by doctors and scientists. it was his wife who convinced him to change policies.

Russia taking children and moving them into Russia to raise them. Random shelling and killing of civilians. FDR like Henry Ford originally didn’t think Hitler was a major threat. Finally invading Poland and other countries forced a change in policy.

Hard to say that isn't being reported regarding Ukraine, there is an ICC warrant out for Putin's arrest based on the children kidnappings. I agree and wish it was much more widely covered, especially for the purposes of all of the Putin apologists in these comments sections.

I am very far from being a fan of FDR. However, supporting Hitler as you've stated and not thinking him a major threat are vastly different things. Its normal for people to be wrong, only hindsight is 20/20. As brilliant as FDR was domestically (I disagree with the way he used his brilliance, but its hard to argue with the guy winning four presidential elections) the record shows him being a lightweight internationally, so its par for the course to misjudge Hitler. He dramatically misjudged Stalin also. (He dramatically misjudged his VP Wallace for that matter as well.)

Expand full comment

Perhaps you've forgotten a majority of our country was isolationists throughout the '30's, still war weary from The Great War.

Yes it is hard to argue with a guy who won four elections, and it's harder to argue with a guy who commanded the greatest military victory across two oceans, with one hand tied behind his back after Pearl Harbor, and an overall dilapidated military.

You greatly contradict yourself by saying hindsight is 20/20, but FDR misjudged Hitler.....if he did, so did the entire world.

Expand full comment

I am not sure what point you are making. It sounds like you disagree with my point, but I am not clear on what argument you are making.

My point was that whether or not FDR misjudged Hitler, and its likely that he did because he grossly misjudged other characters, that cannot be termed as FDR supporting Hitler as the original poster contended.

Expand full comment

I'm defending FDR because he was in an impossible position.

My point is if FDR misjudged Hitler so did the rest of the world.

Information did not flow freely then as it does now. No one could have predicted Hitler would have turned out the evil menace he was. So to say he misjudged him is a false characterization.

Maybe he did others as well, but that is a lot of ground to cover.

I'm not sure he misjudged Stalin, unless you fault him for not foreseeing the millions he was to kill. Who did?

He didn't trust Stalin but needed him. Had Hitler not foolishly declared war on Russia, and the US, while fully engaged with England, the war turns out quite differently.

The saintly FDR issued an executive order criminalizing private ownership of gold. Required US citizens to sell their gold to the federal government at a set price. And shortly thereafter raised the value of the seized/confiscatedgold thereby enriching the federal coffers at the expense of the citizenry.

The conservative Putin apologists here are a creature I don’t understand. I can only guess that they feel so powerless in US politics and mainstream culture that they fantasize about a Trump-like strongman coming to squash all opposition, brutally and definitively. They really admire that being gay is illegal, that any protest against the incumbent is treated with beatings and jail, that political opponents are sent to gulag in Siberia (that’s so badass, right?). And ironically, they would rather see all of that happen at the expense of democracy. They are so infuriated by drag queens being invited to a kindergarten somewhere in the US that they would vote for Putin tomorrow if it meant that would never happen again. Personally, I don’t want drag queens in kindergartens either - but I have come to realize they’re the canary in the coal mine. The fact that they exist here is proof of freedom. The free market can take care of when they appear and how much influence they have, but in Russia, you won’t see a single one. And that is NOT a good thing.

This is complete gibberish. Emotional gibberish. Do you think every conservative is a Putin apologist? Do you grasp that the Biden administration is desperately trying to jail its leading opponent? Do you think there are no gay conservatives?

No, but of all of the Putin apologists I have encountered, every single one is a conservative. As am I, but their reasoning makes no sense. Mark is probably onto something, that people are very much thinking along their tribal lines, rather than for themselves. I see the same phenomenon with Israel - of all of the anti-Israel arguments I’ve encountered, all have been from liberals.

Maybe my reasoning is gibberish, it’s speculation after all. But the observation is not.

I think its just a knee-jerk reaction that if Biden is for supporting Ukraine then they have to be against. Admittedly, its hard sharing a position with Biden, given that this is the only one. It is also unfathomable to me how seemingly sane people are regurgitating Kremlin-funded Putin-supporting propaganda from the likes of Tucker Carlson. Seems to support the view that most people care more about being with the "right" tribe as opposed to having a clear moral compass and thinking for themselves.

Mark, Ukraine is in an unwinnable war. A basic understanding of geography (the place is flat, no mountain barriers to keep out hordes) and demographics (Ukraine has much fewer men of fighting age than Russia). There is also nothing North & Atlantic about the place (Turkey too). Why did we court both Georgia & Ukraine as possible NATO members during the aught’s? That was just stupid in the long view. We’re not Putin lovers. We’re just realists that this particular war of choice was a wrong one. For that matter, so was the Iraq war under Bush. Biden & Bush both gaslighting American voters on the need for these foreign wars. There is a lot of $$ made on these conflicts, but also a great deal of death, destruction and lifelong trauma for those in the trenches, and their extended friends & families.

Right. But if we can accuse leftists of having trump derangement syndrome (remember all those people saying they wouldn’t take a vaccine if trump made it - and then they became vaccine poster children overnight as soon as he was out of office?), how can right leaning people now do the same thing? You lot lost it over missiles in Cuba; what is sauce for the goose... Septics are such fucktard hypocrites; somehow your tanks on other peoples' lawns is fandabbydozie. Twats. I think it fair to say that is the position of most here: WE, the West, are the aggressors. Putin isn't one of the good guys; but neither would he suck American cock. You rock up with an existential threat, what did you think was going to happen? Own it or bugger off.

Expand full comment

NATO was not an existential threat to Putin, any more than your neighbor putting a lock on their door is an existential threat to you. No sane person thinks nato would launch an attack against nuclear-armed Russia. Please. And Putin doesn’t think that either - the only reason he attacked Ukraine is because he knew he could get away with it.

Also, enough with the we are aggressors and oppressors nonsense. Russia has aligned itself with China, Iran and North Korea. If you find yourself siding with them, you should re-evaluate your outlook. For f* sake, sometimes I look around and think the immigrants who escaped the Soviet Union are the only Americans left who love America. This putrid hatred for the US and the west seems to seep in from both sides of the political spectrum, and it astounds me. I still believe we are the most democratic, freedom loving nation on Earth and I am beyond grateful to be a citizen of this country - I fully understand that an idea means nothing without power.

FDR probably true but Ford was an admirer of Hitler. As for Russia taking children - some evidence would be needed. And with the propaganda flowing that might be hard to do.

Expand full comment

That's the same point of view FDR's antisemites in the State Department took when presented with the evidence of Nazi death camps in 1941, even when that evidence included photographs obtained at great personal risk. They termed it "propaganda" and dismissed it. That certainly was the easier path to take. So that's a well-trotted path of bigots who chose to label inconvenient realities as propaganda. This is part of the reason Eisenhower ordered film crews into the death camps after liberation, so that film evidence would make it harder for later day Nazi apologists to claim that the Holocaust was invented by the Jews. This is also why there are criminal investigators documenting Russian criminal actions in Ukraine and bringing criminal cases against the perpetrators.

There’s tons of evidence of that. If you just think all of it is propaganda, then you become part of the propaganda.

Which political movement speaks jarringly and a-historically often about the "evils" of "colonialisation"?

Oh, and I think it fair to mention that Britain has opened its doors to Hong Kong Chinese, formerly British, subjects. I think that's worth mentioning in this context. People in Hong Kong didn't want the turn over of power. They had no say in the matter, that's the problem. Colonization had many awful problems for sure, but it was what it was and it also brought the colonized countries into modernity. Hong Kong escaped the worst of Mao's communism because it was under British control and it flourished in every way from science to arts. The US left the Philippines post WWII and the country's been corrupt and poor ever since. But to the wokes and modern Marxists it's ok as long as one is oppressed by its own people.
