I am not surprised at all that Patton Oswalt apologized for his friendship with Dave Chapelle. I have read his comments over the past five years throwing so much hate around that you had to know what a sorry loser he really is. What kind of person would renounce his friendship with someone in order to protect his career? Whatever happened to the notion that your loyalty to friends supersedes the attacks from haters who dwell under every rock? Oswalt is just another weak and pathetic excuse for a human being. He’s lost all respect.

I was a little disappointed with the interview with Liz Cheney. I think one of the questions that should have been asked is how did the 2020 summer of Antifa and BLM riots, violence, 1200 murders, police stations burned down, federal buildings defaced, police cars firebombed, businesses looted and burned, etc. with no punishment by the leaders of those cities all lead up to the events of January 6th? Americans watched their cities burned for four months, and neighborhoods taken over by criminals with no interference by authorities. The FBI didn’t go on a manhunt searching for all of those criminals. When people see this lack of justice they lose all respect for our institutions. It’s not enough to say “I disagree with that violence too!” If there’s no action against the crimes of the left then the crimes of the right will not end here. Liz Cheney didn’t fight for a committee to investigate those crimes, nor did any other Republicans. They don’t care if it wasn’t their business or police precinct burned to the ground.

The movie, “Don’t Look Up,” stars Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio as scientists begging people to care about impending doom. One of the writers behind it is David Sirota, a former top Bernie Sanders presidential campaign advisor

———————————————

He should have written an action movie where scientists are begging the media to care about the fact that a Bernie Sanders fanatic tried to assassinate every Republican in Congress because of

1) The Big Lie about Trump being a Russian spy

2) He believed Republican healthcare plans would kill people

I was thinking about how this shooting would have been perceived as so much worse if it was at the Capitol (not to mention if the parties were reversed holy crap can you imagine?) and I immediately became angry at everyone for being so stupid, shallow, and obsessed with optics. It’s a mass shooting. Who cares what the backdrop is? You’re more moved emotionally by an event if there are Greek columns in the background? What are you, twelve??

Reminds me when the video of Ray Rice punching his wife came out and everyone was horrified except for me. Why? Because we already knew he punched his wife. I was already horrified. Why does the video change anything?

So you hear a football player punched his wife and you’re like

“Meh.”

but then you see the video and you’re like

“Oh no this is terrible!!”

Your brain is so limited that you were unable to do the math in your head on what an elite running back punching a woman would look like? Let me guess, you’re also fine with small business owners having their lives totally devastated because their restaurant doesn’t have a dome on top and the workers don’t wear suits.

I don’t have the energy to fully describe my feelings towards the people who compare Jan 6th to 9/11. It makes you an evil piece of shit. I’ll just leave it at that.

It makes me sick what these teachers are doing - being out of school will hurt these kids way more then covid ever could - they are disgusting - how anyone could support unions /democrats is beyond me- school choice changes lives - nobody cares ! Oswald is typical of what men have become these days. Smh

The only thing that Biden should have said about January 6 is to invoke the spirit of healing a divided country, the need for comity, etc. etc. The fact that he instead spent it whipping up partisan fury makes me think the next few years are going to be filled with unrest and more riots, from both sides of the aisle.

I have to tell you, I absolutely love Common Sense. LOVE IT. I am one of those rare unicorns that voted for both Obama (2x) and, I hate to admit, Trump. I am so thankful for truthful reporting that has nothing to do with the narrative and everything to do with facts. I miss honest political debate (do you remember Senators Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Bob Dole). I do so hope that integrity and journalism come back together again. Thank you all for being a light!

I’m a huge fan of Nellie’s little mini headlines.

“Is armed robbery really so bad?”

As to Mr. and Mr. Smith, and independence the hot new thing in journalism: "“I think that there’s a big audience that wants journalism that respects their intelligence,” Ben Smith said."

Ya' think? It's taken how many decades to realize that? Unfortunately, when the un-holy mixture of NYT and Bloomberg Media procreate (metaphorically, of course,) we sure to have neither independence, nor journalism.

I'm not really very eager to see what they build.

If todays compendium of news doesn’t turn even the most leftist mind sane, meaning against leftism, there is no hope for that person.

Thanks for the updates. A few thoughts because where else can I post them.

The farce of January 6th can be seen by Pelosi talking about those that died - that had nothing to do with 1/6 such as Sicknick who had a stroke (that little gem was suppressed for quite a long time until they could get their narrative working) and the only one actually killed was a rioter. Oh, and where is all the footage which would prove most of the rioters' innocence (I assert that because they are refusing to release it)?

The most conservative thing to say about education is that the money should always follow the child. This will lead to charter schools and other innovations to best serve our children whatever their income bracket.

It's disgusting to see what Patton did with Dave Chappelle. Grow a pair, or grow a vagina because as Betty White said, "those things can take a pounding" :-)

I hope the Smiths found a news organization that we can trust since those don't seem to exist any more. Please take a note from Joe Rogan who millions of people trust because as Jordan Peterson observed, "That's because he doesn't lie. Or talk down to his audience. Or manipulate for his own narrow advantage.". If they can build trust by reporting both sides of all issues and fend off being controlled by large corporations, that would be a wonderful thing.

Jan 6th is only an event to people looking to extract even more power of the state over its citizens.

I am a paid subscriber to several Substack newletters including, of course, Common Sense. I paid my $50 to Bari the day I read the detailed report about the wacko racist NYC psychiatrist who was recorded giving an unhinged lecture at Yale for which she was duly honored. As I said in a comment at the time, Bari is providing a vital public service informing people what goes on at "elite" medical institutions where leaders are more afraid of being called racists than protecting patients from an obviously disturbed clinician who happens to be a person of color. Bari, we loved your interviews and talks in NYC (at 92Y) and would love to see you there again soon! Come back to NYC, guys!

New Yorkers actually voted in a DA who says that only murderers will be put in jail and everyone else walks? Are New Yorkers insane? Or did the DA lie about his intentions before the election and change to this revolting form of "justice" afterwards? If the latter, how would that not be election fraud on his part?

I’m a 30-year veteran educator in Texas, and most of our school districts have lifted mask mandates and since the beginning of our school year, we’re back to normal with face-to-face classroom instruction to classes full of unmasked students. I first got a happy-glimmer of what was to come when I attended our high school’s first big kick-off athletic event at the large district stadium. Thousand of people—parents, grandparents, families and friends—in the stands honoring all the athletes from every sport parading around the track to kick off the school year, and not a mask to be seen on anyone in the stands or on the field—oh—except for the 3 “woke” school board members standing on the sidelines. There had been no “underground” text campaign not to wear masks. Everyone just somehow (possibly word of mouth) independently did not wear a mask. The subtle message that night was loud and clear, and school for the year opened with no mandates. Additionally, I want to thank you, Bari, for your courage in leaving the NYT. That published resignation letter was my introduction to you, truthfully, but I became a fan immediately. We need public people standing up against “all this” give courage to the masses that we’re not alone. I’ve followed you and Alex Berenson steadily now, and I send your news from America to friends in Australia and New Zealand, who thus have created an “email ring” Down-Under to share outside world news that has been banned / censored from their countries. My contact there continuously thanks me on behalf of whole email ring for giving them courage not to be vaxxed (if they choose) and not to comply with Australia’s draconian measures. They didn’t know anything about the Aborigine internment camps going on. So, what you investigate and post, and what Alex investigates and posts, carries far beyond American shores to influence and bring hope to people around the world! The ripple effect at work. May God bless you and your research team.

It’s perhaps a bit sophomoric to admit, but I’ve despised Liz Chaney since she ran against gay marriage in 2013. It wasn’t her opposition per se that bothered me. (I happen to be gay but understand religious objections to it, even though I—with a masters in theological studies—do not share them.) It’s that both of her parents had long before—while Dick Cheney was still VP—come out publicly in support of Liz’s sister, Mary, who is a lesbian and married. Liz vocally took the other—I would say political—route. Eight years later, she’s apparently doing the same thing, having told “60 Minutes” in September that her former position was “wrong.” Gee, what could have elicited such a change in principle so many years later? She makes me want to gag.

So two days ago 10% of Chicago Public School teachers showed up to work and yesterday 12%. God bless those teachers who actually put children/students first. There's nothing that boils my blood more (as a retired educator) than the evil union and its members.
