I hope Spotify, and all other streaming services do decide not to register. Public opinion in Canada is already running hot against the Trudeau government, and denying Canadian citizens access to their favorite content will only hasten and strengthen what I predict will be an overwhelming backlash against the most repressive regime in Canadian history.
And don’t forget the show trial re-education mandate that Jordan Peterson is enduring now at the hands of Canadian authorities. He is at risk of losing his license to see patients for expressing wrong think in his public statements. To be clear, zero patients have complained. Yet he must defend his right to practice psychology clinically for not mouthing the progressive liberal dogma of race and gender victimization. His legal bills are significant and mounting due to this officisl witch hunt.
Politicians are afraid the market is unfair … people having freedom to choose scares them… because people might not choose to listen to what the government wants you to hear .
I disagree sharply with some of the political views on The Free Press, and that isn't a secret (!!).
But the entire premise of Western Civilization relies upon our ability to keep an open political discourse - to disagree about things and find common ground through speech. If that cornerstone is taken away, the entire structure will collapse. Silence a person or a people and they will revolt because it's the only thing left to them; if they don't, they're gutless and deserve the table scraps they'll receive.
I have tremendous respect and admiration for Weiss and her work. She's fighting the good fight
Canadians used to be so nice. And open-minded. The heavy-handed reaction to the Truckers protest was a shock to me. It seems this great country is willingly embracing government overreach.
Big Brother is alive and well in Canada. Sometimes I wonder how many Americans even have a clue re/ what is happening just across our northern border. Limiting speech is extremely disturbing and is, I believe, just the tip of the iceberg.
Or these media companies could refuse to operate in Canada, leaving it a vast entertainment wasteland. So Canadian voters could feel the consequences of voting for Fidel's evil spawn. And yes, Trudeau is a comical ass. But that's just a facade for his demonic, evil core.
I removed YouTube from my phone and haven't used it since they demonetized Russell Brand based on anonymous allegations. While Rumble doesn't have the extensive content of YouTube, the streaming experience is much better. I can actually "close" my phone and keep listening, and I can skip through advertisements. It turns out that anything I deem worth watching is available on Rumble.
Canada is turning into a closed society. It is unbelievable to me that this tyrannical control is the will of the citizens. That they would sincerely choose to be oppressed through censorship, restrictions of speech, movement and access to their finances. It is indeed being walled off behind an iron curtain.
I hope they can find the will to remove the tyrants oppressing them.
Wow - seeing that screenshot of Facebook news "not available in Canada" is stunning - it's like trying to get on to Instagram or FB in China! I'm blown away by how bad the censorship has gotten there in just a few years. A good lesson for Americans.
Bit by bit, freedoms are given up in the name of "celebrating" this or protecting that and one day you wake up in a totalitarian society wondering how you got there.
We should celebrate this inanity, because when your opponents stand out in the open daylight and scream about their tyrannical ambitions, it will only open more eyes to the sad truth. That is, assuming people by-in-large don't cheer for the tyranny... but judging from Trudeau's approval ratings... that doesn't seem likely.

Since Canada now finds itself behind an Iron Curtain, it's time for a Canadian equivalent of Radio Free Europe.
This is what happens without a first and second amendment

I heard about this but so glad someone’s written a piece fleshing it out a little bit.
