What excellent journalism! What is the name of the song at the end? Thank you :)

Now that I finished episode 2, I can start on 3. When I listened to podcast, the description of Hamas indoctrination of students and punishment for people who disagree; it is uncomfortably familiar- DEI.

I hope that Bari Weiss was able to see world-famous violinist Itzak Perlman while in Israel. He performed in SF in 2022. What if the door to Israeli safe-rooms locked from inside the room via a lever at the doorknob? If door need be forced open by emergency personnel- they and only they would know to force open locked door by pushing at door location X. Not even occupants of homes would know this secret. That way a terrorist couldn’t force civilian to reveal door- opening technique.

This was very moving, especially the interview with Lucy telling her personal story so much involved with that whole conflict.

That majority of Palestinians “support” (word has numerous meanings) Hamas because of indoctrination from Hamas makes me think of Stockholm Syndrome.

Paused at time 1:07:00 to comment. I kept clicking pause because discussion was scary. On Israel and Democracy; caveat must exist of “Forever a Jewish State that is democratic.” Democracy cannot be allowed to be used as tool to abolish Jewish state. I know Palestinian Christian merchants in SF who are “river to sea” fans. Complicated.

Does anyone have a link to the recording of "Vi iz dus geseleh" at the end of this episode?

Good interviews but everyone is focused on land when the real crux is religion and culture. Islamic scripture excoriates Jews. This hatred goes way back long before Israel existed. Simply put…Muslims simply reject modern Jewish culture.

Starvation now sets in for Gazans. Aid is being systemically denied. Truckloads and truckloads that are being turned away daily and for what? Because scissors and drill bits for ortho surgeons serve a "dual purpose" and therefore the entire load is denied. For every week that this crisis continues, the destabilization of the entire region further deteriorates. I *think* most moderate Israelis understand that what is now happening will only cement an unstable and dangerous future. And dimwit Jared Kushner blah-blah-blahs about moving people out, cleaning out beachfront property and getting the development going. It is clear what the ultra-orthodox and extremists in Israel want -- ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the WB. Unfortunately, it is also clear that most Americans no longer support Israel (particularly those under the age of 40). Even if BiBi was voted out next month, the damage is done. Just like Trumpism in the US.

None of what you wrote is true.

The facts are the facts. Best to look straight forward and understand that Israel has no end game in sight other than to eliminate the possibility of a Palestinian state. Like the US in Iraq, this will be a never ending struggle. And the world is not supporting BiBi much longer.

what is plain from this is the arrogance, selfishness and stupidity of so many Americans, the left?, and the biden administration. Obama didn't believe ISIS, the Syrian government, nor Iran. biden didn't believe the Taliban, Iran, Hamas, Russia or many other bad actors. Is the pattern not plain to see? You want the world destroyed? Vote democrat and bend over and kiss your butt good bye. throw in Pielke Jr. and the other unbiased climate scientist and you can see joe will destroy us one way or the other but more than likely, it will be the perfect storm from the perfect moron.

Bari-

Please bring us more of this! I find the interviews very compelling and revealing of the nuances we don't get from most other places. I wish these voices could be heard more widely here in the US and maybe even in our local schools. So glad for your involvement in UATX!

Very interesting and made me squirm at several points in the podcast.

It became clear why many Israelis have such a low opinion of Palestinians.

At the end, I found it hard to believe that somebody could optimistically discuss the percentage of chances of a majority of Gazans approving a two state solution, in the midst of the slaughter, deprivation and hunger that Gaza people are going through, cleverly/evilly set up by Hamas, with the Israeli government delivering their outcome.

This seems to be almost completely ignored in Bari’s coverage of what is going on there.

SOOO Good ... we need a real paradigm shift towards this whole conflict and conversations and voices like this are part of the first steps

BTW - does anybody know who was singing Yerushalayim Shel Zahav at the end?? It was hauntingly beautiful

This was excellent. Einat Wilf should be an advisor to Biden and Blinken and she should give them a history lesson. Nobody understands the Palestinian position better than she does. The Administration is delusional. The interview with the Israeli Jew was very eye-opening as were your interviews with Palestinians. Keep up the great work and I’ll see you in Dallas soon.

This was so moving and really informed me about the existential threat that Israel faces. Thank you Bari.

Your interview with Lucy was spot on. Her Palestinian father made her go to school and face her Jewish friends after the terrorist bombings. She “refused to be a victim”. She is an Israeli citizen - that happens to be Arab Palestinian. Her strength and resiliency, seems to be missing on the progressive left these days.

Your interview should be a prerequisite, reading/listening, for graduation at all universities.

She is an Arab Israeli of Muslim faith. Not an Arab Palestinian.
